What's Been and What's Ben

The New York Times recently had an article about how the Large Hadron Collider might be doomed from the start because nature hates the idea of creating the Higgs Boson (what gives stuff mass) so much that it goes back in time to prevent one from every being created/extracted by a really high energy collision. If true, this could be hugely useful because we could control our own destiny. We could build a every larger Hadron collider and threaten to turn it on if say a nuclear weapon is ever launched or if the US doesn’t get universal healthcare. Perhaps the decline in US education was caused by the futures need to not have scientists that might want to investigate this problem. In fact, me even writing this has a lower probability of saving correctly, being available, or you reading this to find out about it too. This would be a great plot for the show LOST.

It makes me wonder if there is a bunker somewhere that controls word events by constantly threatening to turn on a particle collider if certain things don’t happen. Perhaps that is where Cheney was after 9/11.
