I drew this freehand over the course of several courses from witch this was the most relevant information I could plunder during my first semester at KAUST during the eighteenth year of my formal education. I think they (who I don’t know) stop labeling grades with numbers because otherwise grade 20-25 (PhD) seems very imposing. For my mathematically inclined readers (who can count) I skip year 19 in this scheme because in the US a masters program is typically two years, I included kindergarten, and it gives a bigger number to have a five-year PhD program. Notable features are the partial periodic table(got off iPod touch during class), the root network in the top left (it represents a real social network branch), the art deco pattern in the bottom right (ripped off from internet), a tunneling electron in the top right (black dots), and the zincblende lattice structure in the lower center part of the paper (LED semiconductors use this).
